Been looking for laughs in all the wrong places? Need to have fun after a long Monday? Want to feel more at ease in conversation and public speaking? Just want to meet nice people and enjoy some silly fun?  Whether you are needing some (or all) of the above, Improv is for you.  Learn through play to feel comfortable with uncertainty, explore your creativity and collaborate.

Whether you have some experience or none, this class is designed around the students to achieve comfort with the basic concepts of Improv: Listen, Yes/And & Immediacy, while translating them into scenes and characters onstage and better communication offstage. The class culminates with a showcase performance for your invited friends and family.

Michael Harris of MidAtlantic Improv has been teaching & performing improv for over 20 years. He spent 7 years as the Artistic/Executive Director of Baltimore Improv Group, created & performs in the New Spire Holiday staple, Bah Humbug: A Christmas Carol (Mostly) Improvised, and is on the faculty at Hood College. He has taught improv for thousands of people aged 6 to 86, run corporate workshops and training for clients including: T. Rowe Price, Johns Hopkins University & Hospital, and PayPal, amongst others and has been an invited performer at comedy/improv festivals from DC to Chicago and NYC to Austin.

Support the Weinberg

The Weinberg Center is an institution of value to Frederick. It is a vital part of the economic life of Downtown Frederick, attracting more than 85,000 patrons annually who visit shops, restaurants, and local stores. Furthermore, the Weinberg provides educational programs to over 8,000 Frederick county school children each year. And the Weinberg continues to bring world-class performing artists to the heart of downtown Frederick for our community to enjoy. We are committed to keeping ticket prices affordable for our community. So to cover the costs of the arts we present, the Weinberg — like theaters nationally — must find other sources of support. Please consider making a contribution to this historic theater.
